4 Key Things To Do At ISF's 30th Annual World Congress?

The event

It’s that time of year again! Join us this year in Dublin, Ireland for the 30th ISF Annual World Congress 26-29th October 2019. Last year’s conference in Las Vegas was a huge success, and we are excited to return. Key topics listed by ISF this year include:

  • Managing risk and providing assurance.
  • Governance and management
  • ISF member-led sessions will guide ISF Tools Suite, including Information Risk Assessment Methodology 2 (IRAM2).

For the 10th consecutive year, the doors are open to a select number of non-member organizations too. The three-day event is brimming with presentations, workshops and networking sessions, and with over 1,000 global senior executives and business leaders, we have some recommendations of things not to miss!

1) Gain the latest insight

The Academic Showcase Presentations is being held on 26th October 2019 (Day 1) 3 – 4.30 pm. The showcase provides a platform for several PhD research students to present their research area and discuss how their research could impact on the industry in the future.

The showcase will provide members with the opportunity to find out more about areas where information security will develop in the future and spark innovative early adopter or collaborative initiatives. The students will give a short presentation on their research, followed by a general discussion of their work.

2) Embrace Dublin’s culture

To add a splash of Irish culture to your trip, the networking event this year is not to be missed. This year it is held at The Guinness Storehouse at St James’ Gate Brewery.

The Guinness Storehouse is one of the most visited Irish attractions for tourists. Although the event focuses on the Cyber and GRC industry, it is excellent that attendees can network while experiencing some Irish culture.

3) Hear from the experts

For the 1st time ever, all 6 keynote sessions will be live streaming as they happen on ISF Live. There are many prominent keynote speakers this year; however, the following are a must-see for us at SureCloud:

Chris Hadfield – Astronaut and former commander of the international space station

Chris will be holding his talk on the second day Sunday 27th October at 9.00 – 10.00 am. He gained further popularity when he enthralled novice space enthusiasts with his Twitter feed. He offered insight into his life aboard the station, while also taking and sharing stunning images of the universe around him in 2013. His talk will be an astronaut’s guide to managing risk, and it is not to be missed.

Mary Aiken – the world’s foremost forensic Cyber-psychologist.

Mary will also be speaking on the final day, Monday 28th October at 3.30 – 4.30 pm. Mary studied and is currently based in Dublin, where the conference this year’s is held. Mary is the director of the Cyber-psychology Research Network and an advisor to Europol and has conducted research and training workshops with multiple global agencies, from INTERPOL to the FBI and the White House. Her talk will be focusing on Humans and Technology and what implications it has for information security professionals.

Alex Hollis – SureCloud’s Services Director

As a gold sponsor of the event, SureCloud will be having our very own breakout speaking session on the final day of the event. Alex will be discussing “Back to Basics: Are you Building your Third-Party Risk Management Program Effectively?”. The session is to going to be held at 2 pm on Sunday 27th October 2019 in the Wicklow Hall 2A.

4) Trick or treat!

For the Halloween weekend, SureCloud will be running our “Horrors of GRC” trick or treat game over on Booth 8 (near the sponsored lounge 2). Treats include sweets, branded merch and Amazon Echoes, make sure you swing by to say hi to the team and to get your passport for prizes stamp too!

Not attending this year? No worries, you can follow us on our Instagram to keep up to date with the team at ISF. 😊

“See” you there!
