Chief Executive Officer
Richard has developed a successful track record working in and managing fast growing technology companies.
His career began in IT management consultancy, where he worked for blue chip corporations in the UK, mainland Europe and the USA. In 1995 Richard founded RCL, an IT management consultancy, which specialized in the implementation of ERP applications and the provision of IT managed services. In March 2000, Richard sold RCL to Morse Computers PLC - a FTSE 350 company - where he continued his employment as Commercial Director of Morse Business Applications.
After leaving Morse, Richard joined the board of Numbercraft Limited, a retail analytics software house - to develop and implement a partner programme. Numbercraft was sold to NASDAQ listed Lawson Software Inc, an OEM partner, in July 2003. At Lawson Richard was appointed Market Development Director for the newly acquired software assets responsible for product strategy, sales and marketing.
"In the 21st century we all have to get more done with less - this axiom particularly holds true when it comes to investments in internet security. We founded SureCloud to address this issue - opting for an On-demand software delivery model to significantly lower the implementation and support costs associated with traditional information security solutions."
Chief Operating Officer
Nick started his career in programming, working for Next Retail Limited in their Client Server team developing applications to improve supply chain efficiencies. He then moved to work as an IT consultant for InCity Solutions, a consultancy specialising in the banking and finance sector, supporting front office trade systems.
In September 1999, Nick joined Numbercraft Limited, a retail analytics software house. During his time at Numbercraft, Nick built and managed an On-demand business intelligence solution serving the needs of some of Europe's largest Consumer Goods companies.
After the sale of Numbercraft to Lawson Software in 2003, Nick headed up pre and post-sales support functions for the Numbercraft solutions.
Throughout his career Nick has developed a strong reputation for meeting and exceeding customer needs and has broad experience across many business functions including product design and development, sales and marketing, and post sale services. Nick co-founded SureCloud in March 2006 and is responsible for ensuring clients receive a rich, satisfying experience throughout their whole engagement with SureCloud.
"Security is an extremely complex area and the need for dedicated expertise will continue to increase. It's my aim to ensure that our customers get the most from our service and feel that they can rely on SureCloud to be responsive and provide high quality assistance whenever it is required. We feel that as an on-demand business the service element of our solutions is paramount to their success."
Head of Security
Toby has accumulated a vast amount of experience in his 15 years in the security industry, and is now viewed as an industry authority by both peers and clients alike. Toby began his career as a successful consultant with assignments at Sybase, SBC Warburg, and many other well respected commercial organizations. UK and US Government work has exposed Toby to information security on a global level, which has resulted in him developing a unique set of skills.
Toby's specialist interest is Internet infrastructure, and complex attacks and network weaknesses originating from outside the organizations perimeter. He works closely with a number of ISPs to mitigate serious threats such as distributed denial of service, DNS poisoning and routing/tunneling attacks.
In 2000, Toby founded AIL, a boutique penetration test company servicing the security needs of a growing number of City based companies. After a successful trade sale of AIL in 2005, Toby co-founded SureCloud in March 2006. Toby is responsible for security research and development, and heads up the SureCloud consulting division.
"Hacking is no longer just for fun, it is increasingly reward driven and organised criminal teams are working constantly to find new ways to breach systems. It's my responsibility to keep the SureCloud team of consultants up to date with the latest tools and techniques so that our clients have confidence they are receiving comprehensive tests and solutions, and the best security advice and assistance available."
Head of Services and Application Security
In addition to being Head of Services and overseeing all of SureCloud's customer engagements, Mike heads up the Application Security practice area within SureCloud, bringing extensive software engineering and application security risk assessment expertise to SureCloud. Mike is also responsible for formalising the internal process and procedures within SureCloud as the company achieves exponential growth, and transitions from highly successful start-up into a maturing company.
After a variety of roles in software development, Mike joined Sun Life Financial of Canada as a Senior Web Software Engineer; this was effectively a software start-up company serving Sun Life Financial, so was a mix of start-up activities like attaining CMM and ISO standards, but also great exposure within a large organisation. The proposition quickly had to change from software production and a need was identified for a security testing function. Mike worked with Ernst & Young on a knowledge transfer project that carried the skills into Sun Life in order to build and manage that function. Mike then moved to Canada in 2005 to work in the Corporate IT Security organisation within Sun Life Financial, serving the global community as manager of penetration testing service and contributing to the wider IT Security strategy.
"In my previous role as security manager for a large organisation, I had the responsibility of selecting third party security services providers and managing that relationship; effectively being both end user consumer and supplier at the same time. This provides a unique insight not only into what customers want, and how to break down all that FUD, but also how best to leverage that knowledge and refine our internal systems to deliver those services. In an industry that relies too greatly on smoke and mirrors, I believe SureCloud is in a unique position to make a real and positive contribution to our customers."
Head of Product Development
Mark began his career at IT Consultancy Conduit Communications, where valuable experience was gained undertaking a broad range of projects for a broad range of clients. The varied technologies included programming, web development and database design and administration for clients from the financial, petroleum, aeronautical and retail sectors.
Following a brief career break to sail across the Pacific, Mark joined Vox Generation a company specialising in Speech Recognition solutions. There, he was lead architect on the technology platform to enable the rapid design, development and performance tuning of their applications. Mark was integral in leveraging and combining many bleeding edge technologies to produce novel and innovative solutions that exceeded the strict performance requirements.
With the ethos that technical design succeeds when user experience is maximised, Mark has the experience to combine cutting edge and established technologies in ways that produce intuitive interfaces that are fast, consistent and quick to develop and extend.
"It is my aim that our customers be presented with the information and tools needed to monitor and maximise the security of their network in a highly intuitive and responsive visual interface. Furthermore, our open architecture must provide the extensibility and ease of integration to allow the efficient, seamless inclusion of customer specific requirements."
